Cranky customers

   Posted by: Kim   in work

Many of caralluma on line
you in here may not be aware but up until a year and a half ago I worked at a very busy family restaurant as an assistant manager.  Then I had to leave my place of employment due to babysitter issues.  Well about two weeks ago I decided to go back to work as a supervisor.

The past couple of weeks haven’t been too bad but just this past Saturday I had to deal with my first cranky and unreasonable customer.  Apparently before I even started my shift we had a customer who was standing out in the take out for five minutes before anyone went down to see what he wanted.  And instead of blaming the girl who was on the take out, he blamed me.  He stated that I should have more control over my staff and this was a very poor way of treating customers.  I tried to explain to him that I just came on shift so I really didn’t understand why he was blaming me.

I really have to tell you all that of all the complaints I have had to deal with, this one really took the cake.  So I apologized to him and told him I would talk to the staff.  In my head I was kind of wondering how on earth he expects me to “control” my staff when I’m not even working??

There is no logic where customers are concerned, lol. Have to hate how they are always right and some can be really horrible to staff. Hope you don’t have many more like that one!

Sounds like maybe he was cranky before he ever entered the restaurant and waiting just made it worse. Some people will just take it out on the first person that will listen and this time, that was you. Sounds like you handled it very well. :-D
