About a month ago I applied to a site on the Internet where I could do some writing for them. Well last week I heard back from them and was informed that I was now one of their writers. Yay! Then yesterday they e-mailed me with my first set of assignments. I do have a couple of weeks to get them all done, but I am planning on doing the majority of them over the weekend. I really want to do a good job for them so that I can continue on with them in the future.
So if you don’t see me around for a few days, don’t fret. I’m still around, it’s just that I will be writing articles instead of doing so much blogging.
Right now we live in a four bedroom mobile home. Now you would think that that would be plenty of room for just the four of us wouldn’t you?? But nope. We have so much stuff that when you walk into my home, you are constantly tripping over things. And yes, I have tried to de-clutter and throw things away, but it only seems like when I do this, it gives my husband an excuse to go out and get more stuff. So right now I have two options. Option one…get less stuff (tried that, didn’t work), or option two…get a bigger house. I’m leaning toward option two. Now all I have to do is get my husband on the same page and we will be good to go.
Many of you may not know this, but one of my favorite hobbies to partake in would be crafts. I do all sorts of crafts such as cross stitching, plastic canvas, knitting, sewing, quilting, making jewelry and scrapbooking. Well I have a ten year old daughter that I have tried to get interested in doing the different types of crafts. But she doesn’t seem to have the patience.
Well you can just about imagine my surprise when she came home last week with a permission slip to join the cross stitching class. Any time I have tried to show her, she has lost interest very quickly. This is why I was surprised that she had some interest. I don’t know maybe some of her friends are participating, or maybe it’s because the teacher that’s doing this is one that she really really likes. Whatever her reason, I’m glad that she is finally showing an interest in crafts. And if this teacher can teach her, then that’s a bonus as well.
Although all I mainly did this weekend was work, it was an extremely busy weekend. I work as a waitress at a very busy family restaurant and this past weekend was probably one of the busiest that I’ve put in in a very long time. On Saturdays I am the only waitress on from 9:00 am to until 4:00 pm and it can get quite crazy. Well this weekend is got really crazy and by the time I left my shift I was pretty exhausted. I was so tired, I was even too tired to cook supper so I brought it home.
Sunday was pretty much the same thing. So all I wanted to do when I got home was kick back and relax. So needless to say, nothing else got done. But after a good nights sleep, I have tons of energy today. So I plan on doing everything today that didn’t get done over the weekend. I did survive this past weekend, but hopefully I don’t have another one like it for a very long time!

Have a great weekend guys! I’ll see you all the first of next week!
I’m going to tell you all a little story about WalMart. This is a true story and has my blood boiling.
Yesterday we took the kids in town to WalMart so that could make some purchases with their gift cards that they received over Christmas. They both had enough money to purchase two Nintendo DS games. So after they made their selections we paid for their items and headed out the door. Well on our way out we were stopped by an employee and asked to see our receipt.
I looked at my husband and said WTH?? Is this new?? I showed her the receipt, but I felt like a criminal. It’s pretty bad when you are an honest shopper and they stop you so YOU can prove that you paid for your purchases. Well let me tell you, if these purchases were not for the kids I would have taken back everything I bought there. As it stands now, I will NEVER EVER step foot in WalMart again. I don’t need to be treated like a criminal when I’m trying to make some purchases.
I’m not really a fan of winter. I seriously dislike the cold, snow and ice. But I would have to say what I really despise about winter is the amount of storm days that we end up getting. A storm day means that I have the two little people home with me all day instead of being in school. And what this means is that I get an extra day of listening to all the fighting and squabbles.
So today we have a snow storm due to the amount of ice that is covering the roads and I have been blessed with listening to a large amount of fighting. We are supposed to get more snow tonight which means we may possibly have another storm day tomorrow. I certainly hope not, but if we do I think I’m going to find myself some ear plugs!
How about you guys?? Do you dread the awful storm days as much as I do??
My ten year old daughter is a very special little girl. Yes, she can get on my last nerves sometimes, but then she goes and does something like she did over the weekend which reminds me once again what a special little girl she is.
On Saturday she went to get a hair cut. I was at work and just assumed that she was getting her bangs trimmed. Well you can imagine my surprise when I got home and discovered that she got her hair cut short. And the reason for this drastic hair cut?? She wanted to donate her hair for kids for cancer. When she walked out the door to go to the hair dressers she had 20 inches of hair on her head. She now has eight inches. They cut off twelve inches of hair. Enough to make two wigs!
Yes, I was a little sad that she to her beautiful hair cut, but it was something she wanted to do but she would only do it if she could donate hers. So…this is why I am extremely proud of her. She is always thinking of others!
Over the past couple of years I have been slowly trying to build up a small home crafting business. And yes, this process has been going pretty slow. But with it now being a new year, I have decided to try to kick things up a bit. Over the past couple of years I have realized that there are some things that I haven’t been doing well in attracting potential customers and buyers and one of those things seem to be my advertising methods. I have tried to go the “cheap” way with word or mouth advertising, but have discovered that this method isn’t working out really well.
So I have decided that what I probably need to do is to look into getting a small business loans that will help me pay for some advertising which may in fact help me to increase my sales. I do realize that we are now in the middle of a recession, but I still think that the products that I sell are still in demand as people still need to buy gifts for loved ones. So I think if I pay for advertising and have it targeted to my perfect market, I could in fact keep my little business running. Right now the only payments I accept is through paypal but I think that if I start accepting credit card orders I may increase my sales as well.
So with it being a brand new year, I think these may be some measures that I need to put in place to become successful in my crafting business. The more exposure my business gets, the more sales I could potentially make so I really do think a small business loan may be the way to go.
