After the kids get home from school today, they will have a nice little break. Next week is March break and I have to tell you all that both kids are quite looking forward to this. Me… not so much. Normally when these two are home for any length of time, all they do is fight. So if they hold true to form, then I get to listen to a whole week of fighting. Hopefully they will prove me wrong. Maybe then we will all have a great March break!
The other day I had the opportunity to speak to my son’s grade 4 teacher. She informed me that he is a wonderful student and very bright. But she is having a very serious problem with him right now. He NEVER stops talking. She actually asked me if he ever stops talking at home and I had to tell her no, he never does. This kid even talks in his sleep. She was laughing about it because she has never (in all her years of teaching) experienced this kind of thing. She speaks to him on a daily basis about it. But in all honesty I don’t think he can help himself. He tries to be quite, he just can’t. But other than that he is doing wonderfully in her class. Hopefully he can control is talking a little bit better. But, if that’s the worst thing he is doing, then I really don’t think he’s doing that bad.
Today is the day that my daughter gets her school picture taken. My son had his taken earlier this month. One of the reasons why I’m quite pleased about this is because this will be her first school picture of middle school. She has grown up so much this past year that she now looks like a young lady. Because the school takes digital photos now, I will be able to see the proofs today. I can’t wait until she gets home from school to see what type of picture we will be hanging on our wall this year. Her brother’s pictures turned out wonderfully and I’m really hoping that hers will too. I’ll let you all know.
Wow I can’t believe there is only two weeks until school gets back in. And…. I am so not ready for this. I have so much to do I really have no clue where to start. I need to purchase the rest of the kid’s school supplies and clothes. Then I need to label every item we are going to send with them. If I don’t get a move on, the next two weeks will fly by and I will still be complaining of a lot to do. Hopefully this weekend we can finish up on the shopping and then next week I will have time to label everything.
The kids will be back in school in less than four weeks and to say that I’m not ready for this big day is a huge understatement. My daughter will be headed off to middle school (grade 6) and my son will be back at his elementary school (grade 4). And I have nothing bought. I mean, not even a pencil. I have my son’s school list but not my daughter’s. But I pretty much can guess what she is going to need. So this weekend my husband and I will be going out to do some shopping. I realize I have four weeks to do this, but time keeps marching on.
At my place of employment we employ a lot of students. We actually have five workers graduating this year. And let me tell you, these kids are extremely excited about this big event. I have seen so many College Graduation Announcements that I was a little confused as who’s announcement was who’s. We have two graduating from college and the other three are graduating from high school. After seeing some of the kid’s High School Graduation Invitations from www.express-invitations.com I have to say I was highly impressed. When I’m in the market for graduation invitations or any type of announcements graduation, I know where I will be doing a lot of my shopping.
Next year my daughter will be headed off to grade 6. What this means, is that she will be leaving her elementary school and going into middle school. Well, because the district realizes that this is a huge change for the kids, they have arranged for all the grade 5 students to attend the middle school that they will be going to next year for one day. Well today is the day that she will be spending the day at her middle school. She was very excited for this day to arrive and is now at the middle school. I really hope that she has a great and fun day today and hopefully this little experience will alleviate any fears that she has about moving up next year. I’ll be sure to let you all know how she makes out today.
Well if you are a parent, just like I am, then you know what time of the year this is. This is the time of the year when the kids come home from school and show you their home report card. Now if they do good on their report card, we generally like to give them a little something to reward them for their efforts. But having two kids in school can be very expensive around this time of year as well.
So, when I go shopping for end of the year gifts for the children, I usually try to find some type of deal so I can save some money. Well this year I have come across a site where I can get some pretty sweet deals for gifts for the kids. I found it over at Coupon Trunk. This site lists just about every store you can imagine and gives you hundreds of coupons to choose from. So since I need to make a purchase anyway, finding this valuable coupons will really help. I will probably make my purchase at our local WalMart so I was really pleased to find that this site offers coupons from this retailer.
So if you are looking to purchase any type of gift and would like to save yourself some money, then I highly suggest that you check out this site and take advantage of all the coupons and savings that they have made available to you.
Last month my kids were involved in a pedometer challenge in their school. My son’s grade 3 class one the challenge for his grade level and was treated to a sledding party. Well this past weekend it was time for the some of the parents of some of the students to take up the challenge. My son volunteered my husband and I to take part in this. As the parents who had the most steps during this challenge had a chance to win some Sea Dog hockey tickets. And my son really wanted those tickets.
Well today he took back the pedometer. We should know by the end of the day which family one. I don’t think it was us as my husband is not that active. LOL On Saturday I wore it to work and logged in over 10,000 steps. I was really busy that day. But on Sunday my husband wore it and only logged in about 1500. But it was a fun experience for my son. And who knows, maybe I walked enough for the entire family. My feet sure felt like I did by the time my shift was over on Saturday.
Two snow days in less than a week. This is getting a little insane. This morning we woke up to more of the white stuff and all the schools were closed once again. Although it’s only 10:00 am here, it’s been such a long day already. The kids have pretty much been squabbling all morning. And because it’s still snowing and nasty outside, it looks like they will be inside for the remainder of the day which means more fighting! I really don’t know if I am going to make it. Hopefully this snow stops soon and they get all the roads plowed. These two kids really need to be in school.
